All the Meadows Wide

It’s all I have to bring today –

This, and my heart beside –

This, and my heart, and all the fields –

And all the meadows wide –

Be sure you count – should I forget

Some one the sum could tell –

This, and my heart, and all the Bees

Which in the Clover dwell.

-Emily Dickinson

There are many days my amount is small. I may whisper His name when that is all I have left. He has my heart and meadows of my love. He has my dreams. He has my trust. Even with just a whisper, he melts my heart with love. He measures my strength and understands. He requires little although my expectations are often unreachable. I think I should manage it all with class and honor. In reality, there are days I just need to be. I need the peace that passes all understanding. (And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7) Those are usually the best days. The ones when I stop and dwell and listen because that is all I can do. He ministers over me and fills my heart and mind with endurance.
